Smokin' In The D started Professionally in 2011 after cooking with two established teams in 2010.Starting in the backyard since 1978, we have always had a passion for BBQ and trying different methods and recipes. Learning how to cook Perfect Competition style BBQ takes time, practice and education. Mike and Denise have taken several Professional BBQ Classes from some of the Top Professionals in The United States, along with their own methods, have become one of Michigan's most successful teams. Finishing 152 out of 2800 teams overall in the Nation.Finishing 7th in Ribs out of 175 Grand Champions at The American Royal Invitational in Kansas City ,MO, and 10th in Pork at The Prestigious Jack Daniels World BBQ Championship in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Winner of over 20 first place categories, 48 Top 5's and 78 Top 10's, against some of the very best professional cooks in World.Won a Michigan State Championship and an Ohio State Championship within a matter of weeks in 2013.
In 2015 we scored two perfect Brisket Scores in Michigan and Kentucky, along with Two Reserved Grand Championships. We continue to compete in several States each year, winning several awards along the way.
